Christmas Bureau

Christmas Bureau

Show Us Your Heart

The Christmas Bureau has symbolized our community’s willingness to help low-income North Shore families with children 18 years or younger and seniors 65 and older for almost thirty years. Families and individuals celebrate and enjoy the holidays through the distribution of Christmas hampers filled with grocery gift cards, gifts and toys. Every request for assistance is treated with compassion, respect and confidentiality. Our goal is to help families with children 18 years and younger and seniors 65 and older to enjoy a hearty meal on Christmas day and ensure that every child receives a toy on Christmas morning.

What it means to Sponsor a Family

Sponsor a Family Form

The Christmas Bureau relies entirely on the Sponsor a Family Program, donations , in-kind donations and the support of  volunteers. Your gift is shared with hundreds of low-income families, including children 18 and younger and seniors who rely on the generosity of the community families at Christmas and throughout the year. The Christmas Bureau is open throughout November and December.

Tax receipts will be issued for all in-kind donations over $20.00.

Download and complete the Tax Receipt Request Form. Attach all your original sales receipts, including the receipt or photocopy of the Grocery Gift Card. Mail to the FSNS office prior to December 31, 2013 or drop off your completed form at the Hamper Exchange.

Please help us stock our Toy Shop.  Family Services of the North Shore Christmas Bureau collects new, unwrapped toys and gifts. Your donation may be dropped off at the Christmas Bureau location.

Some toy suggestions:
  • Infants and Preschool: educational and developmental toys
  • Girls and Boys 5 - 11 years: jewelry kits, art supplies, craft sets, books, backpacks, sleeping bags, building toys and science sets
  • Gifts for Tweens and Teen Girls and Boys are our greatest need: accessories, movie passes, gift certificates, sports equipment, electronics, make-up, bath products and art supplies.

Bikes for Tykes Program
Every child should have a bicycle.  Obsession Bikes, located at 94 Lonsdale Avenue, North Vancouver, needs previously owned bikes to restore to 'like new' condition and deliver to children on the North Shore for Christmas. Seniors

You can help with the basic necessities.  Every year the Christmas Bureau provides hampers to low income seniors from age 65. We are often asked to provide items that make life a little more comfortable - the simple luxuries that are out of reach to many on a fixed-income.

A few suggestions for items:
  • Gift box of cookies, tea or coffee, chocolates, specialty foods
  • Calendar, stationery, magazines
  • Toiletries, shampoo, shaving cream, nice soaps
  • Candles, napkins, kitchen towels, mugs, kitchen items
  • T-shirts, sweatshirts, sweaters, socks, scarves, gloves, pajamas
  • Blankets, bedding, towels, household accessories
  • Household tools, umbrella, tote bags
  • Certificates for restaurants, movie theatre, books, music, clothing, department and drug stores

Thank you Polygon for your generous donation of office space for the Christmas Bureau and Toy Shop
