IMPACT ON THE COMMUNITY 2010
Christmas Bureau
North Shore Christmas Bureau symbolizes our community’s willingness to help low-income North Shore families and individuals by providing Christmas hampers, gifts and toys for children. $1,500 provides hampers for three struggling families during the holidays.- 735 hampers distributed
- 1,888 people served
- 6,500 toys delivered to children
Safer Places for Children and Youth
Safer Places for Children and Youth helps keep our children safe from social exclusion (bullying), sexual assault, and sexual abuse. $3,000 a year ensures a counsellor is present at our SafeTeen presentations in schools.- 1,300 students and adults received education and support..
Stopping the Violence
Stopping the Violence offers individual and group counselling for women (19 yrs & older) who have experienced relationship abuse or sexual aassault and/or physical, emotional or sexual abuse at any age. $5,000 provides one year of counselling for a woman who has experienced violence.- 241 women accessed our counselling services and regained their sense of safety and control.
Clinical Counselling
Clinical Counselling offers services on a sliding fee scale, to children, youth, adults, couples and families who wish to make positive changes in their lives. $10,000 supports one year of grief & loss counselling services (sandplay therapy) for 2 young children.- 448 individuals & families found new ways of coping and dealing with life’s struggles.
Jessie’s Legacy
Jessie’s Legacy provides eating disorders prevention education, resources and support for BC youth, families, educators and professionals. $10,000 supports one year of eating disorder support groups for partners, parents and friends.- 770 individuals, students and families throughout BC received prevention education, resources and support.
I hope family centre
I hope family centre ensures North Shore families and their children under the age of six have access to innovative prevention and support programs. $25,000 supports centre costs for one month.- 440 North Shore families and their children under the age of six received a continuum of programs and services.
